No options to choose 2g, 3g network in ios 11.3

After update to ios 11.3, one can no longer find the option to choose between 2g,3g and 4g. Given the issues with 3g and 4g networks in india, it would have been better to have the option of selecting the network.

Further to the post above mine, if you have a Carrier Update (which means in your Settings/General/About), and it shows the provider (instead of Carrier), then you won't have that option if you go to Cellular/Cellular Data Options.

If you have Reliance/Jio as your provider, then you will not have access to 3G. Apparently from what I read, they built a LTE network from scratch. On my provider, I have a toggle switch to toggle LTE on and off. If I toggle it off, it's on 3G for everything, including data. 2G networks in Canada have been decommissioned, and allocated for LTE.

Like the post above that statement is pure bull----. Maybe your carrier needs to invest more money into it's network.

I will say this. Before my provider was approved by Apple, you could edit out the APN settings, but after the network was approved, all iPhones on the network already (not the ones preordered from my provider) got a Carrier Update. This removed the ability to edit out the APN settings.

KiltedTim is right in his post, but I'll add one here. Most will not allow you to edit out the settings.

Your provider blocks you from changing the APN settings as they are already in the Carrier File. It's not a phone issue as we have pointed out. If you want to dial it down to 3G, then turn LTE off. But your phone should automatically, with LTE on, step it down to 3G should the LTE signal be weak.

I believe it'll pester you to update your Carrier Settings. Since the network is approved for VoLTE, if you want to use it, you'll need to install the Carrier Update. Otherwise, the phone should drop to 3G for a call. This also means you'll be limited to 3G speeds on the Internet should you want to talk and surf at the same time. VoLTE does not have this restriction.

Download latest itunes or update the exiating one.

connect your mobile to pc and take backup on your computer using itunes.

you can see restore iphone option once itunes detects your phone.

click on restore and it will automatically download the firmware 11.3 only and reflash it.

once everything is done, restore your recent backup from your computer.

Entire process will take 1hour of time depending on your bandwidth speed at the time of downloading firmware.

i think i have cleared your queries.

I'm wondering where they get this crap from? I'm almost sick of seeing it. But for entertainment purposes, I guess. But yes you are right. I second your post, and I'll add in something else:

Tell your provider to put more money into it's infastructure. Converting 2G and repurposing it for LTE isn't rocket science.

Yes.. finally using itunes i have restored it. After restoring will get an pop up “your carrier settings to be updated” press later and don’t update it then we can see 2g/3g/4g options.
