My Apple Pencil pairs, charges but does not write

I have spent the whole day trying to get my Apple Pencil to work in any iOS app and have been totally unsuccessful and would welcome Community suggestions since Apple Stores are closed anyway,

I have an iPad Pro, 10.5 inch , running iOS 11.3. The Penicl is paired in Bluetooth, fully charged in the Batteries widget, and I have rebooted the iPad twic, yet the Pencil will not write or even select a screen option. How can I know if the tip is damaged?

Hey Floyd Bloom,

I understand your Apple Pencil isn't responding when used with your iPad. I'd love to help out with this.

You've done great steps so far! As far as the tip goes, here is some more information on that:

Use Apple Pencil with iPad Pro and iPad (6th generation) - Apple Support

Specifically here:

Replace the tip

If the tip of your Apple Pencil becomes worn or damaged, you can replace it. There's an extra tip in the box, and you can buy more if you need to. Just unscrew the tip and screw in the new one.

Cheers!
