How to scroll to the top of a text message on iPhone

Is there any way of going to the very first iMessage sent/received in a message thread with a person?

The only way I know of is constantly tapping the top of the screen- but at some point, my iMessage app crashes, or the messages stop loading.

Is there no way to go straight to the first message?
