Can't access https websites created with wix.com

Beginning on 4/1/2018 I am not able to access https websites that were created with wix.com, from my iPad 2. I am running OS 9.3.5(13G36). I am able to access other https sites (yahoo.com for example) but not sites I created with Wix. I have cleared the Safari cache and cookies, reset the network connections, done a hard reset but nothing has worked so far. I am also not able to access these sites from Chrome on my iPad. I AM able to access http sites that I created with wix. I am able to access my https sites from my iPhone,iPad Pro and Windows (Chrome and Edge). I was definitely able to get to the sites before 4/1/2018. An example site is https://www.nasmga.com. Thanks in advance for any help. So far, Wix support simply said they were able to access my site from an iPad and closed the support ticket.

The keyword is "support" which means that they will help you if you are using iOS 10 or later. However, that does not mean iOS 9 and older will not be able to access sites created using wix.com. You may still be able to access the website but they will refuse to help you (resolve problems) if you don't use iOS 10 or later.

See snapshot below. It says Android 7 and above. I'm still running Android 6 and I can access your site (nasmga.com) just fine.

What happens when you try to access the website? Any error message? I know you said you can access Yahoo secure site, can you still access Yahoo now?

If you can still access other secure websites, your date setting seems correct so there's no need to check date settings. You said on your 1st post that you were able to access nasmga.com site with your other iOS devices. Are they all running iOS 10 or later versions? I also checked trusted root CA in iOS 9 (List of available trusted root certificates in iOS 9 - Apple Support).DST Root CA X3 is listed so no problem there. I'm out of ideas, sorry.

ShagCA, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, when I try to access the site with my iPad 2 (iOs 9). Safari (or Chrome) appear to be trying to load the home page but will not display anything. No errors, no nothing. On Chrome, my favicon even shows up next to the site name so it sure feels like it is in the right place but nothing displays at all. I am able to get to non-https sites created by me on wix.com but not the https sites. Weird! I saw the same page you shared about the supported devices. Their answer back to me lead me to believe that they not only refuse to provide support for any iOS less than 10 but also don't "support" them period. Again, kind of weird since it just happened starting 4/1. No announcement of any changes or anything. Sort of a cruel April Fools joke! I kept thinking it might be some sort of SSL Certificate issue but can't find anything to support my thinking. Other ideas or suggestions welcome.

Also - I am enclosing the text of the latest message I got from Wix.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------

Hi,

While I am happy that the source of the issue is now apparent I am sorry to hear that it does not necessarily help you in this case. The fast advancements in technology can be a double edged sword in cases like this where devices become obsolete so fast. Apple devices are especially prone to this. Planned obsoletion is kind of their business model now and we must keep up with advancements. The majority of users are going to have the ability to access the site though and should not affect your business for long as people will all eventually move to iOS 10 or above. Please do let us know if there is anything else we can help you with.

Sincerely, Ross Wix Support

If there's anything to check, it is your date settings on the device you're having problem accessing the secure site. I asked you earlier if you could still access Yahoo secure site today. If your date stamp is completely off, you should not be able to access any secure site.

I wish I had an iOS 9 or older device to find out for myself if I could access your website. Perhaps someone with iOS 9 and older can join in this discussion.

Thanks for the additional follow up. I am accessing other sites (including https sites) on both my iPad 1 and iPad 2 but still no luck getting to my wix created https sites. What I find astounding is that their answer was that they require iOS 10 or above and now, only a few days later (April 2nd), we find out that Wix live sites are crashing when we try to use devices on IOS 11.3.

They acknowledge the issue and claim to be working on it but sadly, my customers don't understand or appreciate why they are having problems.

You mentioned clearing Safari cache and cookies on your 1st post. Did you do that from Settings - Safari - Clear history and website data? Try that if you haven't already done it.

If they tell you minimum operating system required, no support will be given unless you follow their requirements. No surprise there. As I said earlier, that does not mean legacy OS won't connect at all. Sure they can enforce it by checking on OS version and dropping access to the site if requirements aren't met but that's not the case here.
