Homepod randomly pauses songs

I just got a homepod yesterday and immediately update it to the latest iOS 11.3. While I’m loving the sound quality, the homepod seems to randomly pause in the middle of a song without me asking it to. This happens when I ask it to play from a playlist (have not yet happen with radio), and can be as frequently as every other song. I don’t think there’s any issue with my internet connection as I’ve not have the same issues while playing Apple Music over the Apple TV. I wonder if anyone has the same problem and know how to solve this? Thanks.

Hi,

on the 'Airplay' volume issue try this. If you are using iTunes on your Mac look for the Airplay icon ( top left ), click on it and you should see Computer & HomePod with a 'tick box' next to them, make sure that the Tickbox next to computer is ticked as well as HomePod. That seems to do the trick regarding sound ( well it does for me ).

Hope this helps

That's interesting cause in my case AirPlay (via iPhone or Apple TV) works without any pauses. It only happens when I ask Siri directly on the HomePod to play songs from a playlist (shuffled or not). I tried resetting the HomePod and my router, but it doesn't help. My only issue with AirPlay is that the volume is much lower than direct streaming, i.e. I have to play music at 70% via AirPlay to get the same volume as 50% when asking Siri on the HomePod directly.

I have been in touch with Apple Care advisors who have submitted my issues to their engineers, and hopefully I will get a call back in a few days on how to fix this.

Hi,

glad to hear I'm not the only one. I play my own music via iTunes through 'Airplay' and nearly every time the music suddenly 'pauses' be it only for a second or 2, however the music time bar ( on iTunes ) is still moving, then the HomePod kicks in again be that i miss the couple of seconds of music sound ? It's really annoying, also something else here happens, if I want to watch a video ( movie ) on my Mac using HomePod as the speaker there is a laps between the sound from the movie and when it comes out of the HomePod ( Lip sync is perhaps the best way to describe this - its out , you know the look, 'lips move [no sound ] then the sound comes out a split second behind ).

I have no idea why this is and again its annoying.

So anyone any ideas as to why all of this is happening ??
