Hi Stonearches,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you have some thumbnail pictures that are stuck on your screen. Does this happen when you are using other apps besides Safari, and do these show on your desktop when apps are closed? If it just happens on Safari, please quit the Safari app and then test again to see if you get the same result. How to force an app to quit

If you still have the same issue after that, please use the steps in this support article to test this issue in another user account. This can help isolate the issue from the main user account to the entire system.
How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Let me know how that goes.

Regards.

Hi Brenden,

Thank you for the quick reply. The issue doesn't happen when using Safari, I had it open looking for solutions and used the screen shot as an example. The event happens randomly but does have something to do with moving pictures around. I typically use the desktop as a temporary storage place for photos. I may be moving them from Photos to another app like Messages or Mail or even something open in Safari. The last event happened when I had a thumb drive connected through a port extension. I had the thumb drive open using the Finder, then opened Photos and dragged a selection of about 20 photos all at once into the imports page. The files were transferred with no issues. after closing the finder two of the photo thumbnails were left on the screen. The rest of the thumbnails disappeared when the finder closed. Moving windows around to "cover" the errant thumbnails doesn't erase them. I also can't select them using the touch pad. They appear to be invisible to any actions but stay on top of all windows. I eventually ignored them and at some point they went away. I do not remember what I did to eliminate them. I will try to reproduce it and make better notes on how they go away.

Regards,

Charles Parham
