Messages in iCloud currently disabled. Repair account

I ran IOS 11.3 update. “Messages in ICloud is currently disabled - REPAIR ACCOUNT”. Tapping REPAIR ACCOUNT fails. How do I correct this issue? Messages is not in the list of apps using iCloud.

iPhone 6, iOS 11.3

Here are a some pics of what to do two choices I would recommend both either will work one way is to hold down the power button and the vol- at the same time from the lock/idle screen until you see the black screen with Apple logo then release the buttons and the phone will do the rest this has worked fine on every small issue I’ve had thus far including last update issue with the iMessage issue 2nd thing I would recommend doing on a regular basis iis to hold the power button and the home/fingureprint scanner you will see the screen kinda restart in a sense but also every app running in background also all window in safari will reload/refresh upon going to those windows in which are already open as you've just cleared you cache which is always good to do on the reg in my opinion but it’s your call but I would do it and again the phone will do the rest both of these techniques should work on all iPhones as far as I know...I do know for a fact it works on 6s and 6s plus hope this was helpful for all that comes across this issue or any other issue these will most likely fix any future issues as it has always worked for any of my issues . Man that was tiring lol 😂 hope that this helped those in need

As I’ve previously stated numerous times all you have to do is from the lock screen press and hold both the power and the volume\/ buttons until the black screen with the Apple logo appears then it will disappear after this process if someone tells you not to worry bout it don’t listen cause your msg won’t show up in there only iCloud msgs but yeah if you need further help please feel free to reach out to me and I will do my very best to assist you with whatever issues you may have here is a photo I’ve uploaded to show an example of what the screen will look like after you follow the process I’ve stated above just make sure that you do it from the lock screen hold down the power button and the volume \/ button together at the same time until you see the black screen with the Apple logo I. The middle and the phone will do the rest from there here are 2 different ways to do it but same process I hope that this was helpful for you as it has worked for myself and everyone else you may have to attempt more than once if you don’t get it the first time

As per 91101's post of Apr 4, 2018 2:53 PM, I held down the power and volume-down buttons simultaneously until I got the "slide to power off" prompt, powered off then back on and it was gone! (iPhone 5s. Still have to update my iPhone 7 & iPad Air; was holding off due to this issue.)

Now, as for the nature of this beast, it seems obvious that iOS 11.3 has some "Messages in iCloud" code in it. Furthermore, I speculate that this issue is perhaps an unintended dead give-away that Apple is seeding up the Messages in iCloud "space." Moreover, I speculate that users who are already using Messages on multiple devices with the same Apple ID and are already iCloud-syncing other stuff e.g. Notes, Photos, Contacts, Calendars et c., are the most likely to experience this effect. Ironically, I take this effect as an indication that Messages in iCloud is going to come out burning and turning and working swell when it is finally released. 😎

I believe, though of course I am not certain, the reason the signout-restart-signin process works for some and not others (including me) may have something to do with OS version on a Mac, to the extent they sync iCloud with Macs and other devices.

Everyone, in your messages here, please identify the iOS version and OS versions you may be running.

I am running OS X El Capitan, v 10.11.6, and iOS 11.3.

I think I figured it out. It seems that you have to hold these buttons down together on the lock screen, not while the phone is unlocked. When I tried this and the phone was unlocked, all that happened was that the volume was adjusted. But since the volume buttons aren't even functional on the lock screen, I'm thinking that it would have been just as sufficient to just hold down the power button and shut it down like normal.

Either way, that the "iCloud disabled" message no longer appears in my Messenger inbox. Thanks all!

Well it worked for me you must do the process stated above from the locked idle screen tap power button once quick tap to shut off display then repeat that to turn screen on then follow the from prompts stated below)in order for this to go away you may have to hold home button and the power button for about five sec and that refreshes all open windows apps then do this from the locked screen hold both the power button and volume down button at the same time until your screen displays the Apple logo and then upon reboot the Apple butter bug as I call it will disappear has not returned as of yet so all will and should be fine

The possibility now occurs to me that, for some devices with some circumstances, some kind of Messages database check/cleanup process is going on to facilitate the imminent release/activation of "Messages in iCloud" wherein such process runs during startup and/or shutdown. It may take a few power cycles for the process to complete and thus the symptom to clear. All of the different angles and methods may not actually matter. It may just take this or that number of power cycles of any kind to clear. Pure speculation, though.
