iPhone 4s

Probably it has to open, then connect, then load its screen from the server. On my 4S the App Store app is similar and takes about 15-30 seconds to load. I am surprised WhatsApp still supports older hardware. Good for them but it is probably designed by people all owning brand new devices.

It is what it is. I had a 4s until last year, and yes it was slow when running apps that were still supported but where it was rather inadequate to run them. The current iPhones have at least 15 times the processing power. However, phone calls and texting aren't power hungry and worked just as well on a 4s as on an iPhone 7.

There's really not much you can do about it.

Thre's not a lot you can do. If you have many apps running you can quit some.

Buy a new phone. That one is obsolete.
