I get message "I am not a robot recaptcha issue" when I am using Google on my ipad. How do I stop this. I am not doing anything unusual in my searches. I do not have a vpn working. My Ios is up to date.

How do you connect to the internet? There may be a rogue device in the same network you're currently connected to and that device is sending automated traffic to Google. Take a look at:
