Hello,

What to do if a button or switch isn't working

  1. Restart your device. If you can't restart your device, try to force restart it.
  2. Remove any protective films and cases that might block the button or switch.
  3. Check for debris or dirt around the button or switch, and clean with a soft cloth.

If you need help with Touch ID, learn what to do.

If the button or switch still isn't working, is damaged, or works intermittently, you might need to set up service for your device. Contact Apple Support, then follow the steps to complete your service request.

Hi,

I had the power button not working on an iphone 5s once. It started working again after a couple hours like it healed itself :). But then it was partially one sided as ill have to press towards the left end of the button to get response. The damage was as a result of the phone dropping from a bunk. So a restart and hard reset wasn’t working(Couldn’t even do these for a while).

What happened before the button stopped responding? Did it drop, water damage or ios update? Or it just stopped?

•Try a restart from settings. If no,

• Close all apps and restart, if no,

• Reload os if ish started after update, if no

•Take to apple store if still under warranty. If not covered by wrnty, try a reliable third party repair shop as it'll be cheaper to replace. Its cheap to replace home buttons where im from. Say $5-$8

Cheers! Nd Goodluck.
