Find my iPhone locked screen

I clicked find my iPad by mistake and now it’s locked. I know my Apple ID and password however it says @icloud.com on the top instead of hotmail which I’m using and it says It’s incorrect when I put the information in. I know its correct because I used the same Apple ID and Password on my iPhone and it worked. I tried everything I know. Any idea on how I could fix that? Please and thank.

Hi, thank you for replying to me, it’s actually for my grandfather and this is the only email address he has. It also starts with the same letter in the beginning as his email. There is no other email I know of that starts with it. I checked on iCloud.com/find like you said and it is not there for some reason only his iphone, I’m not sure what to do anymore.

Hi, to Be honest I am not entirely sure what he clicked or what happened after that. I don’t think it made him reset it or anything he told me that just happened he has no idea what he

Clicked. When I visited he just showed it to me asked me what the problem was, I tried following the steps it says but it doesn’t work. It’s not a seconds hand iPad. I reset the password and tried the new 1 but no luck. I mean it works when I use the sameness info to sign in to his iCloud on his phone and on my computer so I’m not sure why it’s doing that. Also if you look at the picture I attached in my first post I’m not sure why it’s saying @icloud.com.

It will always say example@icloud.com so as not to give away any information. If you log in with his Apple ID and password to icloud.com/find and his phone doesn't appear then it is activation locked to a different Apple ID. There's no way around that fact. Even if you can access music and apps with an Apple ID; they don't have to be the same.

If it was purchased new, and you have the sales receipt, you can take it to an Apple Store and once they are convinced he is the original owner they can unlock it.

Well, pretty much everyone who has an Apple account has an iCloud account linked to it. You can't turn on Find My iPhone without it.

I'm not clear on whether you have tried going to iCloud.com on a computer and then tried signing into his account using his Apple ID. If you have a linked iCloud account then you can sign in with either the Apple ID email address or with the iCloud email address, so try signing in with the Apple ID.

If you are able to sign into his account on iCloud.com using his Apple ID email and password, then open the Find My iPhone app to see if the iPad is listed there.

If it is, then you can erase the device right from there and then set it up again.

If it is not, then that means that the iPad is locked to a different Apple/iCloud account. At that point, the only thing you would be able to do would be to take the iPad along with the original sales receipt to an Apple Store, and they should be able to remove the lock for you. But they won't do it without the original purchase receipt.
