how to remove pictures from sidebar in Desktop and screensaver preferences

I use desktop and screensavers and the pictures that came with the Mac.Now I see all my I photos there as well I never put them there and want them removed... The minus sign to remove them does not darken . Only the plus is darkened..How to I remove the photo folder if I cannot access the Minus___ sign??

iMac with Retina 5K display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)

The Pictures folder and Photos (or iPhoto) are put there by the OS automatically and cannot be removed.
