I am trying to download the iMovie 10.1.9 update to my macOS 10.12.6 Sierra iMac (27 inch Mid 2011). The app store is showing me that it is an incompatible update. I don't see any information on compatibility requirements. What is going on?

In the App store, when you click on the iMovie app, it does display the compatibility requirements under "Information". It's pretty inconspicuous, though.
Would it perhaps be helpful to have that information visible? After all that is a pretty serious restriction that a lot of people are going to run into.
I agree and also, why make it so Sierra doesn't work when many recommendations I have seen are so far, not to upgrade to High Sierra.
