Why remove target display mode?

I don’t understand why it was removed. 1st they stop selling cinema displays and now you can use an iMac as a monitor? I wish either they would turn this mode back on (usbC) or sell cinema displays again which are basically iMacs with all the computer guts removed. Make them the exact same size so they look cool next to each other.

Why can't you use a Macbook made after 2019 with target display mode?! This is so crazy please tell me there's a workaround for this somehow! I have an iMac that I've always been able to use as an external monitor while working from home. I could easily hook up my work Macbook to the iMac with a thunderbolt to USB-C cable. Now, my work was nice enough to get me the brand new 2021 Macbook and I sat on the support line for over 4 hours only to have them tell me that any Macbooks made after 2019 cannot use target display mode. How does this make sense?! Now my iMac is essentially useless because I'll have to get another monitor and move it off my desk with nowhere else to go. Apple please, please fix this issue!

Why does an iMac 27" (late 2013) no longer work as a second display? I have a 17" Macbook Pro from 2011 and could use my iMac 27" as a second display. I now have a new Macbook Pro 16" from 2019 and can no longer use my iMac 27" as a second display. This means it's more of a software and (USB-C) cable problem. Is there any technical reason why a faster computer with USB-C would not be able to allow me to reuse my iMac's screen? I now have to go out out a pay 700€ extra to get a big screen again so I'm willing to pay a premium for a cable + softrware that can do this.

Mac Studio display on 2017 iMac on Monterey Why not support the Target Display Mode feature? I have a brand new Mac studio, but my Studio Display has just been delayed an additional 8-10 weeks. It would be very handy to use this feature! Also potentially as a second monitor. Is there any way to get it to work?
