Connect Samsung S7 to Macair

Hi there

I am currently using the Samsung S7 until I can upgrade to an iPhone in May. I however want to download the content of my phone (mostly pictures and videos) to my recently acquired MacBook Air. I have tried using a data cable but the MacBook does not pick up the S7. Is there a way that I can get my stuff over to the MacBook please?

This article might help - an Android phone should show up in Image Capture as a camera but sometimes they're uncooperative. There's another program that should work in that case. This article is older, but I've followed it with Macs that are about 2 years old at this point and everything worked as outlined.
