Siri can no longer set a timer for a specific time

When Siri first came out, for example, I would say "set timer for 4:00" and if it were say 3:35, siri would do the math and set a 25 minute timer, and I was impressed.

But then a couple years later, she just complains "I can't set timers, only alarms", and I nerdraged so hard that someone decided it was more useful to refuse to do mental math for me and to just complain.

Anyone else remember the old way and prefer it highly? Sometimes I don't want having a ton of alarms hanging around, and the timer is just one at a time and doesn't "make a mess".

This is incorrect. She simply cannot respond to the way you're asking the question.

If you do the math, and say "Set timer for twenty-five minutes", that would work just fine.

I strongly disagree with this for two reasons:

  • I don't want "a ton of alarms hanging around" either. So I delete the unwanted ones! And if I want no alarms, I can reduce the number to zero.
  • The timer is "just one at a time". However, I am forced to keep one, and cannot reduce that number to zero.
