Safari won't log onto a secure website

I am running macOS High Sierra, version 10.13.4 (Safari version 11.1)

There is one website I visit and in the past week Safari brings the website up but Safari won't let me log in on my MacBook pro. It says that the website is not a secure site. I can open Google Chrome and go to the the website (which shows it is a secure website) and log on fine with my MacBook. I'm pretty baffled. Thanks.

Eric, this worked! "Try logging out of your normal account and then back in. Do not open any applications. Open Safari with the shift key held down and try to log on again."

After that, I exited Safari and went back in and it was still working.

Thanks for your help and have a great day!

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Also try the Safe Mode.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.

Etrecheck – System Information

Thanks Eric. I didn't proceed any further with the Etrecheck because the issue continued while in Safe Mode. However, when trying to log onto the web site under another standard user, there was no problem.

So - "The issue doesn't happen in the new user account, the issue is related to the settings or files in your own account."

What are some settings or files I can check under my user account?

No change with those suggestions.

You saw that I didn't have a problem with the new user I had created.

It's strange... I open the website (Bonesmart.org) and I click the log on. The second I click into the User Name box, I get the "Website is not secure" in my search bar (or whatever it's called). Yet I can log on with a different browser or a different user.

BTW, I lol with Etrecheck's comment my MacBook is ancient. Yes it is, in computer years. 🙂
