How do I find the source of a news article in Apple News?

Hi, how can you find the source of an Apple News article? How does Apple make sure news items are accurate? I am a journalist and I am trying to find the source and author of this article specifically: https://apple.news/A6cVNLn_nRDC57Zj30Q-hWg

No one here would know anymore about how Apple choses or vets articles than they have publicly commented on.

Apple may have bought/contracted the articles from freelancers. Lots of people make money writing articles on spec. Both articles have an author listed. I'd suggest researching them. As your are a journalist, you're probably more qualified to do that than most people.

Again, the source may be Apple. Apple may have commissioned or purchased the articles from the authors or a service. And, for what it's worth, Apple didn't become a trusted brand through putting out news. NYT wouldn't immediately be a trusted computer maker if they started producing them tomorrow.

This is another Apple.com news article that is very interesting. But very little is coming to light about who or what institution is creating these articles. I would suspect that Apple.com news vets it's sources and content providers so not just anyone can post "news"? https://apple.news/A2jL6oXhARcGlbDB1tvxTzA

Both of these lead with the headline

Alien Disclosure

Well, it's interesting that what we call "news" from a trusted brand Apple is not news. It's opinion. I think they may be just using a feed from another source. Myself and others have been researching this and we've come to the conclusion the names of the authors must be pseudonyms. There is pretty much no other record on the internet of these articles. And because it's not from a source such as CNN, Reuters, AP, etc there is no way to know where it came from. Fake name, no source. Not news.

One of my friends just posted that yes, indeed, anyone can post content to Apple.com/news . Not sure about the account needed and so on. Is that your understanding? And it does seem the way Apple is using the term news it is just a header to any kind of information being presented both real news and other content which may be opinion and analysis, entertainment and so on. I had not used the app that much I didn't know it was just a clearing house and nothing is really fact checkable beyond the big news outlets. I wrongly assumed the content was being sanctioned in some way by Apple.

No, I have no basis for making such an assumption.

nothing is really fact checkable beyond the big news outlets.

That is also an assumption that I don't have the facts to make.

Part of the deal with Apple news as it appears in iOS devices, is that all you need

do to start a trend and channel odd stuff you may be interested in (categorically)

is merely slip once or twice. Then those kinds of stories, no matter the source or

relevancy to your actual need or desire, will start appearing as one of your choices.

Only one of my devices has been used to see what Apple news is about. For me

the jury is still out; but I've not allowed other device to fully launch the News app.

I've not looked at their News via a browser. But have several sources bookmarked in

three or four computers; some local, regional, global. I hope most are neutral & factual.

Some trace back to a similar source no matter what the retail label, in main sites.

You could try a 'search' to see if any third party validates what you consider; however

most of these answers may simply be given consideration due recent activity, not fact.

Glad to see you posted a source that confirmed what I'd already seen

because the Apple News app in my iPhone SE (iOS 11.2) said it too.

Not to offend anyone, someone can seek one-sided news and it will be

provided; no matter what you tend to believe. I've not tried tested the

theory yet. ~ But if I can find enough alt-fact non-truth stories, I could

then see if the net is cast far enough out there to drag in 'climate denier'

and 'flat earth' articles of equal quality.

Just saying, I'd want to be sure such a selection wasn't actually voting

for that way of thinking; especially due to my previous book learning. 😉

Why seek to help others? The answers appear to be already solved. Empathy is a feat not many people ever can fully appreciate. Thanks for your help. I have my answer.

I really don't know what that means. I don't see how empathy enters into "Thank you for your information but I'm not planning on using it.". I'm glad you found the answer that makes you happy.
