How do I add Acrobat Reader
I need to add Acrobat Reader to my MacOS High Sierra. I get a response on my computer that it does not support Acrobat Reader. What can I do?

Did you try installing from here? Acrobat Reader DC- Adobe
Ref: Acrobat and macOS 10.13 High Sierra compatibility - Adobe
FYI ... Your Mac can read PDF files without the Adobe Reader.
They are trying to steer you in the direction of the adobe reader dc. This is more cloud related.
Look for Adobe Reader X (maybe it is XI) ver. 11.0.23. I believe any update after that you are stuck with DC version.
I'm going to side with you on this Kurt. I gave up on Preview a couple of years ago as it was very poor at handling large PDF documents (e.g., my local newspaper). That and other issues varied by OS X version but I finally gave up and went with Adobe Acrobat DC and have never had a reason to go back to Preview.
I am running High Sierra and the following with no issues: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

I had to dig deep for the reader. See if it works for you:
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/11.x/11.0.00/en_US/AdbeRdr11000_en_US.d mg
updater
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/11.x/11.0.23/misc/AdbeRdrUpd11023.dmg
This is more cloud related.
Please explain. I have the latest versions of Acrobat DC Pro installed on my main drive, and the DC Reader on another. Both ignore the cloud completely if you want them to.
Personally, I would always suggest using the latest version so you don't run into a PDF you can't open properly, or at all with an older version.
Typically I agree. However the DC seemed bloated and more than I ever needed.
I only use the Reader in a rare circumstance. Preview is the go to app.
Not a fan of Adobe period.
The OP ask specifically for the Reader.
Not to argue, but Preview is the last app I would use for viewing PDFs. It is always behind the current abilities and features of Acrobat. There are many topics in these forums alone where the user couldn't view a PDF in Preview (displayed incorrectly/incomplete). Using Acrobat solved the problem.
Quite a few years ago, the Reader launched very slowly compared to Preview. But, that hasn't been the case in a long time. Even the Pro version snaps open in just a second or two.

The initials DC stands for "Document Cloud" to provide Adobe cloud based tools, if and when required.

Thanks. Appreciate your perspective.
Yes, I know. But at no point are you required to use any cloud services with either the Pro or Reader version. I never do. Both behave as any other version of Acrobat did before DC appeared.
And I, yours. Sorry if it sounded like I was trying to convert you.
