Mac OS X Vs. Windows Vista

Hello everyone. I just recently became a Mac user. So far I love it so much more then using a PC. I upgraded to a new Macbook from a Dell laptop. I just got so annoyed with all the problems and bugs I kept having with windows, and keeping up with the anti virus software that would cost me over a $100 a year to protect my computer. Not to mention having to restart it all the time when something new was installed.
I just saw a program all about windows vista. It looks like it runs like Mac OS X. With the same kind of graphics and programs. It also says it has built in virus software. Also it has gadgets instead of widgets, but they are basically the samething. I was wondering if anyone here has used windows vista and has experiance with Mac OS X. Is it almost the same as OS X, or still runs like windows and has the same issues that pcs can have?

I have no experienced Microsoft Vista, but I have read reports about Vista. Microsoft Vista can still get virus, spyware, malware, and all of that other nasty stuff that no one likes. After all it is still a PC...My post is probably no help, but its alright. Ha!

So far the only similarities I have seen between the two operating systems are in the user interface. It's funny how windows keeps looking more and more like mac os x. As the previous poster already pointed out, it will still get spyware, malware, trojans, worms, etc etc. No matter how much it LOOKS like mac os x, it will never be as safe in my perception.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure. I figured it would still get the same problems that pcs get. I figured they were just trying to make it look like OS X. I am glad that I decided to go with a mac.

I vista business edition on my desktop and I think besides the colors and stuff vista and mac os x are not that much alike at all. Vista to me looks like a fancy version of windows xp and is alot closer to that than anything else.

I've been using Vista (Business/Enterprise) for the past few months. Even with all of the improvements, Windows is still Windows. The built-in AntiVirus mentioned isn't really built in, it's $49/year which isn't bad for Microsoft native security solution. They've got a 90 day free trial on it so I'm checking it out

Overall - I think it's a bit early to truly judge the difference, since there are many apps that won't yet install on Vista due to it's infancy. It will be a few months before most app developers upgrade their installations to work seamlessly with Vista.

So, here I am still using my MacBook - get it?

Yup, it has almost all the same features that MacOS X had for years. I have Windows Vista (running it as we speak) and it just runs like MacOS X. Microsoft tries to fool the users to think that it's MacOS X, but reality, it isn't even running a UNIX base and it doesn't have Aqua, so it isn't the original deal.

I'd still go for MacOS X.
