Hi,

So I have an iPhone right now and an apple ID for it. If I bought a new iPhone and used a different apple ID, the pictures on the old phone and the pictures on iCloud would stay on the previous phone right? They wouldn't delete or become inaccessible? I want to buy a new iPhone, but keep all of the old pictures and messages on the previous one. By creating a new apple ID, the new iPhone can start fresh without harming the old iPhones data right?

Yes. But be aware that you won't be able to download any purchases made by the other ID unless you set up Family Sharing.

Otherwise, if you want them to behave like devices that are not connected to each other in any way, then signing into the new one with a different Apple/iCloud ID would be the same as it being a complete stranger's device. Your device doesn't know anything about my device. Two different Apple/iCloud IDs = two different people from the device's perspective.

Best,
