Setting up a second hand Apple watch

I‘ve bought an Apple Watch second hand, and when I try to charge it, I just get a squiggly green line on the watch face. Ive left it charging for a couple of hours, and it doesn’t change. I also can’t switch it on. Please help.

A squiggly green line doesn’t sound right, the charging display is a part circle representing the level of charge and how much to go. Try the forced reset, press and hold both buttons until the Apple logo appears (this might need about 15-20 seconds) or you get bored and give up. If this doesn’t clear the problem you’re probably looking at a defective watch.
