macOS Hight Sierra ping issue

Hello,

There is a problem with ping within the same network on macOS High Sierra (Mac Book Pro 2017). Laptop invisible and doesn’t answer (100% packets lost).

I’ve tried the following:

  • Turned Firewall off
  • Carried out corresponding system maintenances by CleanMyMac
  • Disabled all the third-party software (launch agents / daemons) from startup
  • Reinstalled macOS
  • Tried something irrelevant but anyway

Unfortunately nothing helped 😟

Worth mentioning, when boot from safe mode ping works fine & Mac visible to the network.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

You should NEVER install this “cleanmymac” - it should be considered malware.

Uninstall it per the developer’s was instructions.

Then run the diagnostic tool Etrecheck and post its report here.

It is clear that something that runs in your account when booted normally is preventing ping from working. The report should help us figure out what.

Hi Luis,

I've already tried to remove all the installed software without success.

How did I remove: if there is uninstaller then by using uninstaller otherwise manually by searching all matching files using find & mdfind commands from the terminal.

I guess there is some system configuration property that leads to the problem

Please find EtreCheck report here: https://dzwonsemrish7.cloudfront.net/items/1o032e1K0F3u3t0u3M1q/report.txt

Thanks

Hi olegsm,

After reviewing your etresoft log, I see a significant amount of issues that appear to have derived from third party sources as well as helper tools, for example, and several login items, that are unnecessary and/or offsetting your Mac from running properly.

I'd start the Mac in safe mode, then install Komros anti-malware and ... from the app store.

When I see third party data and related this heavy, it's usually gotten into Malwarebytes or will prevent Malwarebytes from running as it should. Thus, I'd go straight to the free download for Komros in the app store.

It will scan all browsers, extensions and more. If there's anything severe, it will let you know specifically what and where & have you delete those threats first before running the remainder of the scan.

This is the most thorough, efficient and effective tool I've found to date with these issues. It's also a clean program that runs quietly and also, unistalls with ease, when ready.

Besides manual delete of apps, etc, I'd install and run it...let it do a great deal of the work for you, safely and securely.

After, look into the article on login/start up items that may not be compatible with your Mac, to help resolve that part of it.

Best of luck ~
