Developer says okay to refund - apple says no

I bought my first ever 'in app' purchase - and it was not what i was after . I contacted the developer and they said they're fine with a refund - however Apple says no. I don't have a reason why though. What to do now? thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Apple is the only one who can issue the refund and Apple said no. There isn't anything else to do. Apple has the final say in these matters.
