Trackpad unresponsive on Macbook Pro 2015

Why is my trackpad becoming unresponsive after only a few seconds on my Macbook Pro Retina Early 2015?

I have followed virtually EVERY step recommended by Apple Communities and still have the problem. I drove 2 hours to the closest Apple Store and they said I needed to replace the flex trackpad cable. Since they didn't have it in stock and retrieving the computer would involve yet another 2 hour drive, I left. I'm waiting on a new $10 trackpad from Amazon and am just hoping I can install the cable myself with the help of YouTube. Seems many others are having this problem, yet Apple won't admit there's an issue. Anybody got any new recommendations for a fix?
