Homepage has been changed without my knowledge

This has happened in the past and I've simply switched back to my previous homepage. However, when I attempted to make the change in preferences, I've noticed it's grayed out and not offering access. Any suggestion on how to evict the interloper and return my homepage of choice?

MacBook Air, iOS 10.1.1

This could happen if either adware/malware/possibly unwanted app is installed or a Profile is added to System Preferences.

1. Remove any profiles you have not installed knowingly.

Profiles

System Preferences > Profiles

Launch System Preferences. Do you see any profiles added to the pane at the bottom?
