Is there a way to turn off the date change every time uploads the iCloud?

I have some very old documents with new 'Modified' dates on them, even though I haven't modified them in years or months. I believe this is due to the documents uploading to iCloud. Is this a bug? I usually look at files in Finder by date modified so that I can see what my latest projects are. Just because something is in the cloud now shouldn't make it have a new date; or if some people like it that way, is there a way I can turn off the date changing feature? Or a plug-in I can install to make this Finder feature still work to my advantage?

Maybe the Finder needs a new view by 'Upload Date' option. I think this would be more user-friendly so that view by 'Date Modified' words properly.

thank you
