Login details not being remembered in Safari

iPad Mini 2, 64gb, wi-fi only, iOS 11.3. To deal with a problem posted in another thread a couple of weeks ago, I cleared the website and history data in Safari. Since then, my login details for a number of websites that always saved my data before are no longer filling in automatically. All of the usernames and passwords are listed under Accounts and Passwords, the auto fill in box(es) in Settings are checked, and I check the "remember me" box at the sites each time, but to no avail. Any ideas?
