Question: iTunes update restore
After an auto update to iOS 11.3 iPad asked for password but would not accept it when input. After a number of tries the iPad was disabled without warning.
I found this site:- https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204306?&cid=acs::fm-itunes_HT204306 and followed the instructions, exactly as written, a number of times, but every time I get to step 3 and click on “restore” I get the error message “The iPad software update server could not be contacted. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation”.
I am properly logged into iTunes so what does access privileges mean?
Clicking on the “More Info” button took me to https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT201210 but steps 1 to 6 just produced the same result. I then clicked on “follow the steps for your error code below step 6. I had no error code so the only available option was to reset the hosts file but that didn’t solve the problem.
Anybody got any suggestions as to my next step?
iPad 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 11.3, purchased new !0 April 2017
