I have many pdfs - mostly manuals, that I need to read on my iPhone.
How can I get a pdf onto my iPhone 6 plus?
How do I open it there and read it?
This includes, by the way, the iPhone manual, which is also a pdf.

Where are these PDFs stored ? If on your computer you can add them to the phone's iBooks app via drag-and-drop (if you've updated to iTunes 12.7+ on the computer) from Finder/Windows Explorer onto the phone device in iTunes : Manually manage content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iTunes - Apple Support

There is no "books" section in iTunes any more.
That's why I said use drag-and-drop if you are using iTunes 12.7

Not sure what you mean by 'where', the link that I have has simple instructions that you shows you how it works, have you read it ? Obviously it will only work with apps that support file sharing (which iBooks doesn't) and which support the type of file that you want to copy to it. And what 'folder' ? Why do you think you need to move the PDF into a folder ? You can copy them into any folder that you like on your Mac.

Obviously it's possible and easy to do. Which part of the simple instructions that I've linked to are you having problems with ?
Email or downloading the PDF from the web are the easiest ways.
If it's small enough iMessage may also work.
If your phone and Mac are both relatively new, you should also be able to AirDrop the PDF file to your phone:

Yeah - that's the way I would do it. If it's from a website it's easier to directly download. I've had PDF travel docs and emailed them to myself. I typically use webmail or a specific app (like Gmail) and I can typically view the docs and save them to the iBooks or Adobe Acrobat Reader directories. I prefer Adobe Acrobat Reader:

If you have a more recent Mac the easiest way is to AirDrop it, but in your case I'd just download it on your phone:

I have seen many threads about moving pdf online, but without a solution.
Those totally kiffed-away and wasted on drug marketers at Apple have stuffed so much commercial junk into iTunes that the interface has completely imploded with nonsense.
Apple used to have intelligent, minimalist, well thought-out interfaces. But ios and itumes have become cluttered junk, that is just like windows and is unintuitive and silly, and doing a simple thing like moving a file has become a problem.
But at least you can choose among a million ringtones and have emojis with poop and middlefingers.

I cannot drag pdfs into books, and I cannot add them via the "add" function.
I remember the days when Apple devices were about core functions that always worked. Now a simple file transfer isn't possible. When you go online, you see many apps that try to fill that void.

Now it's all silly gaming and trash features for the immature. I now need to install an app to add this basic function to my effing iPhone.
IOS has become a piece of trash.
I did it that way.
One pdf was 18mb - but email accepted it.
I have another with 38 Mb - the manual for DaVinci Resolve, just short of 1100 pages - I'll likely look for a web download or use Hightail to send it to myself.
What is ridiculous is that it's so difficult to get files to your phone.
There is an app, lawo, which would be good for me as it touches the Asian market, but I can't post images there as I cannot access my images on my iPhones.
I wish IOS would become a little bit more reasonable like a computer OS, not the computer OS becoming a bit more ridiculous and impractical like ios.
