HD space available miscalculated

High Sierra seems to miscalculate the free HD space available? Look how the individual folders does not add up any where near to the 384 GB in total. After taking this screenshot I looked in my user system folder and found a 40 GB folder from a crypto app which I didn't need. After deleting this 40 GB folder the total GB used went from 384 to 290 GB and the free space went up 3 GB.

500 GB TOTAL HD (SSD) (Subfolders doesn't add up)

384 GB USED

20 GB FREE



It appears High Sierra has a 'math problem' ???

I understand from your post that the files sizes are not matching up to the amount of space taken up by the folder size. In a situation like this reindexing the Spotlight index may help:
