Checking the iPhone whether it’s original

I’m trying to check my new iPhone 6S on originality, it shows me “check the date of activation”, then I put the date and it shows me “unfortunately we can’t do it now, try again later”, something like this. So I’m afraid whether I bought new or refurbished phone. I need it really ASAP, because people who sold it to me say that the phone is totally new.
