It depends on many factors:
1- the download files size
2- the reliablility (and the speed) of your connection (cellular data or wifi network)
3- the storage space you have on your iphone
4- the Apple Servers accessibility (sometimes they could be very busy)
You're not alone.
Try to improve the first 3 points.

The Update(latest version of apps on Apps Store) sometimes late.
To be precise on Google Play Store (or Playstore for android) have receive latest update. but in App store like us who on IOS the update took a month or so.

But the delay doesn't depend on Apple, nor on your iPhone settings.
That's related only to the 3rd parties apps manufactorer's developer teams. Many times, their updates are prepared for iOS or Android platforms, but not at the same time.
So, sometimes iOS apps version can come out "before or after" Android apps version.

Well I’ve do some ‘digging’.
The App developer doesn’t have issue actually.
It is the App Store Review Process that take so long.
I do know that every app trying to enter the App Store will be ‘scan’ by Apple first before release it to AppsStore. Well, the app/game I mean was the PUBG Mobile.
Yes, this is another "check" that Apple always do when a 3rd party app update is available.
It's also a matter of "security", and Apple is very careful about that.
