do you guys think I should get Apple care ($270) for a MacBook Pro 2017 that cost $950? Is it worth it to pay more than 1/4 of the price of the laptop for the insurance?

That computer runs on batteries, and can easily be subjected to multi-G forces just in casually moving it around.

I do not tend to buy AppleCare coverage for my desktop Macs, but i would not dream of buying a portable computer with a glass screen without it.

If you decide NOT to buy it, you are deciding to pay for any problems in years 2 and 3 out-of-pocket. That price is about 1/2 the full replacement cost of the screen.

The AppleCare+ policy available now covers up to two incidents of screen replacement for a modest copay of about US$99.

You have ONLY 60 days to decide, not the previous one year.
