bedtime shutdown parental control

My 12 year old has trouble breaking away from screen time to go to bed at night. I want to set shut timed downs for week days (school nights) on his iPhone 7 and his iPad (12.9in iPad Pro (2017): 10,875mAh). Also, is there a warning alarm of something so he knows to save his game or work so it's not lost when it shuts down?

YOu can look to see if there is an app, but there is no built in feature.

There is the old fashioned way.....they charge their devices in the living room over night so cannot physicallly have them in the bedroom where they may be tempted to use the when they are not supposed to.
