my Shared albums are already save in icloud? can I deleted them to free space in my iphone ?

i need to free space for my iphone ...if a deleted the pictures and videos in shared albums they still safe in the cloud? why if I choose to save them to icloud ohoto sharing or files, i got a message of preparing but it disappiar in couple of minutes shut the cellphone and I believe not safe the pictures ?
