searching pdf in preview doesn't work

This is very frustrating. This issue seems to go back at least 7 years. Sometimes search works on a file and sometimes it doesn't. This is within the same file, sometimes without even reopening the file. It seems that Apple doesn't want to take the time to fix this. Does anybody know of a reliable alternative to preview that works in a similar manner?

Preview PDF not searching for exact phrase I can't search for exact phrases in Preview app for PDFs. If I put the phrase or sentence in quotation marks, it'll say "No Results Found" on the left hand side. I'm on MacOS Ventura 13.0.1, and I put it on safe mode and it did not fix. I went on another user on my MacBook and it still didn't work. Contacted Support and they told me to start using 3rd party PDF apps. Any suggestions?

Need a fix for “no results” after searching Files App My Files App (the one by Apple) shows Adobe Acrobat as a location I can access through the Files App. Yet when I run a search through the Files App for documents I know are in Acrobat, it returns “no results”. I have made sure Acrobat (just and example, happens to other apps too) is active under Siri & Search in Settings, but it made no difference. How do I get Files to search more thoroughly and return results? I don’t see how it can be useful with this function missing. TIA Francois
