Phone Audio issues when using Car Play

I recently purchased a Kenwood DMX7704S stereo. When trying to place calls while using Car Play the outgoing audio is terrible. Crutchfield send me another stereo, so I am sure it's not the stereo itself. I have the latest IoS software, radio has latest firmware, using a certified cable.............

The audio is fine when using Bluetooth, but I cannot use Car Play to make phone calls.

Is there a fix coming?

CarPlay Audio automatically switching CarPlay recently began switching the audio source to my iPhone when I connect it to my Honda CR-V, which I don't want it to do. Even though I'd been listening to satellite radio previously, as soon as I connect my iPhone to my car, the audio input switches to the phone, which has no audio playing. This never used to happen until about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm running iOS 13.7 on my iPhone. I primarily use CarPlay so I can use Waze for navigation, which I've been using since 2008, and prefer to any other GPS maps system. On occasion, I'll use my iPhone for audio, too, but would prefer that it not usurp the audio input when I plug it in. There doesn't seem to be a setting for this. Any ideas as to why this is happening, and how I might correct it? Thanks!

Car Play cuts off car radio I have an iPhone 8 Plus that has is running the newest iOS: 12.1 When I have it plugged into Car Play in my 2018 Volkswagen Atlas it will cut off the car audio completely. This happened with my iPhone 7 Plus as well. What's really strange is that my current iPhone 8 belonged to my husband and his NEVER cut off the radio. My VW has the most current software update, as well. It doesn't matter if i'm using navigation or not, the car audio will shut off randomly.

Low audio volume on car radio when using bluetooth When using bluetooth on my 2012 Honda CR-V with an iphone8, I have very low volume either when listening to music or podcasts. Any suggestions. I have tried turning off the Sound EQ, made no difference.
