Screen Goes Black on 8 plus

i don’t know if this is supposed to happen or not, but i have an iPhone 8 Plus (it’s brand new, just got it yesterday) and the screen goes black while i use Siri. this happened on my iPhone 6s as well, so i‘m not sure if that’s what it’s supposed to do or not.
