iTunes movie rental

I rented a movie on iTunes on MacBook Pro(high sierra); it did not play; so i checked it with iPhone and it started to play ok. so i went back to MacBook to watch again; but it did not start; decided to download it on MacBook pro and still wouldn't start. Now neither (laptop or iPhone) will play the movie saying that the other device has to stop playing first (while I am not watching it on either device; nor downloaded on either device)

-i updated my softwares on both the devices

-restarted and rebooted both

-deleted the downloaded movie from MacBook pro

-still the same answer from both devices ----> "stop playing movie on other device" when i tried to play the rented movie

i would greatly appreciate your help.

thank you.

See Get help with an item purchased from the App Store, iTunes Store, or iBooks Store - Apple Support. Report the problem with the rental and ask Apple to reset things so that you can watch it properly.
