Key tone noises while on phone call

Hi, after updating to iOS 11.3 I now hear the sound of key tone dialing randomly when on a phone call. It does not happen all the time but when it does , the only way to make it stop is to hang up the phone and call the person back. From my understanding the person on the other end does not hear the dialing because when calling back they always say they did not hear it. Is anyone having the same problem? Any suggestions on how to fix the issues other then restarting the phone and doing a hard reset? Thanks

iPhone X, iOS 11.3

Greetings Tee812,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you're hearing an unexpected tone while you're on a phone call. Furthermore, the party on the other end of the phone call doesn't hear the tone, and you need to hang up the call to resolve the behavior.

I suggest checking for a carrier update with your iPhone: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

Since this seems network related, resetting the network settings on your iPhone would be another good troubleshooting step you can attempt. When ready, you can tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

If the behavior still persists after these steps, speaking with your wireless carrier may prove helpful.

Let me know how the provided steps work for you.

Cheers!
