Question: restore safari reading list in high sierra?

I accidentally cleared all items in my reading list in Safari and cannot seem to restore them. I checked my iCloud settings, which showed no archives. I also attempted to restore an earlier version of the Reading List Archives folder from Time Machine at ~/Library/Safari/ReadingListArchives. but when I launch Safari, no reading list, and for some reason the ReadingListFolder deletes itself from the library. Not sure what's happening, any advice appreciated.

I figured it out. Had to restore entire contents of Safari folder, not just ReadingListArchive.

well, I spoke to soon. Restoring entire contents of Safari folder in user library did restore Reading List items, but as soon as I used one, the entire contents disappeared again. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
