Trying to recover Sierra

Was forced to reload snow leopard and I want to access my sierra backup.

Tried restart cmd R and also tried cmd opt R on restart to get to disk utils.

The restart keeps booting system.

How can I get to my backups?

If you've followed the seps under "Restore specific items from a Time Machine backup" and you're still having trouble, follow this resource: If you can't back up or restore your Mac using Time Machine - Apple Support

Take care!
