Question: can your provider lock your sim free phone

bought a sim free phone about three years ago put a talktalk sim into it have changed to another provider now seems to be locked ????

Sim Free is NOT the same as unlocked.


I'm assuming you are in the UK. If you bought your phone from a retailer other than Apple (e.g. carphone warehouse), the phone will lock to the first carrier used. The ONLY source for unlocked phones in the UK is directly from Apple.

Talk to your previous carrier and ask them. They should be able to unlock it, if you qualify.
