Apple TV Slideshow high Internet traffic usage

We use an Apple TV 2nd generation to display a constantly running slide show of about 400 pictures. It works great but it uses a ton of Internet traffic and with Xfinity's data plan, it chews up like a 1Gb an hour. I thought it would have downloaded all the pics to the ATV itself however it seems like it is constantly pulling them. I'm using my ASUS router's traffic analyzer to show me the usage.

Any clue how/why it is constantly going back to iCloud and how to avoid this?

I am using Slideshow and my router will give me a better understanding of the traffic usage since it sees it on a client basis whereas the ISP only sees an aggregate of all clients as the router is the single IP is comes from. The ASUS router can break out the traffic usage by device and by app so it is very granular.
