"An error occurred while checking for a software update."

My unit: Model Ipad MB293LL, Version 5.1.1, Serial # V5****Z39. When I go into the settings, general tab and click on software update it continues to come up with,"An error occurred while checking for a software update." Does anyone have a helpful solution to this? Thanks,

There is no update for your device. I guess it is possible that the resource it is programmed to look for no longer exists.
