The on-board macOS Bluetooth File Exchange in the Applications > Utilities Folder works great for moving files between my Mac's and dumb Moto Flip Phone.

see > Transfer files between your Mac and Bluetooth devices - Apple Support

for more, see > Google Search: bluetooth file exchange mac to android

If your device is not staying connected to the Mac via bluetooth? There may be another device near-by (a USB 3.0 external hard drive, a cordless phone base, an electric appliance, etc.) that is interfering with the bluetooth connection.

In addition, try moving the android device a few yards away from the Mac instead real close and make sure that android phone is fully charged or plugged into it's charger.
