FireWire Cable Port - 2009 iMac

Wanted to see if I can get some input before I purchase a cable..

I’ve got a 2009 iMac desktop with a broken video card. Computer still turns on, just can see anything on the display. I’ve long since given up on repairing it, but I need to know what kind of FireWire cable I need in order to use Target Disk Mode to my MacBook Pro (2011).

Not interested in selling. Doubtful it’s worth anything now. Just need stuff off before I scrap it. Anyone?

Assuming you have another Mac with Firewire 800, follow the instruction for Target Disk Mode located at:

So, I tried this over the weekend. The keyboard that came with the 2009 desktop is seeming to have issues connecting. The green light flashes and never stays solid.

Also since the video card died almost two years ago, the computer has largely been off. At this point is it worth even trying anything else? Any thoughts on whether or not the drive is operational?

I hear a chime when turning on, and a shift that appears to indicate it working. But nothing to indicate that it’s actually turning on..
