You can, but it is almost never a good idea to do that if you already have an Apple ID.

Why do you want to? Any purchases you've made on the current account will always be connected to that account and can't be transferred to another on.

So you do NOT want to create a new Apple ID. What you should do is update the current one with whatever email address you decide to go to. FoxFifth linked to the instructions.

Creating a new Apple ID will cause you no end of trouble.
