Why did my cycling workout not record exercise activity?

I see my workout recorded my 3.5 mile bike ride today but it did not sync to my exercise ring. Why is that? Does it not count as exercise?

exercise ring I turned on my exercise before I went for a walk, I walked for 30 minutes but It only calculated 13 minutes toward my exercise ring. I understand I have to walk a certain speed for it to register on its own but if I’ve turned on a work out and turned it off after 30 minutes why wouldn’t it record? It is recorded accurately in my workouts.
